WILL EVERY MUSLIM ENTER PARADISE, EVEN IF HE WAS A HYPOCRITE OR DID NOT PRAY OR COMMITTED SHIRK?

All praise be to Allah. We should understand properly the general principle concerning this matter, the matter of entering Paradise and spending eternity in Hell. It is a simple matter that is explained in a brief hadeeth that was narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh (135) from Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: A man came to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, what are the two deeds that make entering Paradise or Hell inevitable? He said: “Whoever dies not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, and whoever dies associating anything with Allah will enter Hell.” An-Nawawi said: With regard to the words, “What are the two deeds that make entering Paradise or Hell inevitable?” what is meant are the characteristic that makes Paradise inevitable and the characteristic that makes Hell inevitable. This hadeeth explains that what makes it inevitable that a person will enter Paradise is if he dies bel

ETIQUETTES OF SPEAKING TO A NON-MAHRAM WOMAN

Praise be to Allah. Speaking to non-mahram women may occur because of a need or it may occur needlessly. If it is done needlessly and only for fun and enjoyment, then there is no doubt that it is haraam and comes under the heading of the zina of the tongue and ears of which the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) spoke when he said: “The son of Adam’s share of zina has been decreed for him, which he will inevitably get. The zina of the eyes is looking, the zina of the ears is listening, the zina of the tongue is speaking, the zina of the hands is touching, and the zina of the foot is walking. The heart longs and wishes, and the private part confirms that or denies it.” Narrated by Muslim, 2657. When there is a need to speak to a woman, the basic principle is that it is permissible, but it is essential to pay attention to the following etiquette: -1- The conversation should be limited to only what is necessary and has to do with the matter at hand, withou

INTERNET CHATS BETWEEN MALES AND FEMALES - PERMISSIBLE OR NOT?

QUESTION: Does chatting between the sexes on social media sites come under the heading of khulwah that is forbidden? Praise be to Allah Firstly: It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “No man should be alone with a woman unless there is a mahram present.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5233) and Muslim (1341).  What is meant by khulwah in this hadith is physically being alone together. The reason for this prohibition is that it is thought that this khulwah will lead to falling into what is prohibited (haraam), because it enables the Shaytaan to instill such temptation. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) referred to that when he said: “Indeed, no man is alone with a woman but the Shaytaan is the third one present.” Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (2165); he said: This is a hasan saheeh ghareeb hadith with this isnad. al-Haakim said in al-Mustadrak (1/114): It

WHY DID ALLAH CREATE THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH IN SIX DAYS WHEN HE IS ABLE TO HAVE CREATED IT IN LESS TIME?

Praise be to Allah. One of the firm beliefs held by people of deep faith and complete Tawheed is that the Lord, may He be exalted, is able to do all things, and His power is without limits. He has absolute power, perfect will and ultimate control of all affairs. If He wills a thing, it happens as He wills it at the time when He wills it, and in the manner that He wills. There are many definitive texts in the Book of our Lord and in the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) which affirm this and state it clearly, with no ambiguity. It is sufficient here for us to quote some of the verses that indicate this, such as the verses (interpretation of the meaning): “The Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it : ‘Be!’ — and it is” [al-Baqarah 2:117] Al-Haafz Ibn Katheer said in his commentary on this verse (Tafseer 1/175): “Here Allah explains the completeness of His power and the greatness of His authority, a

EVERY MONOTHEIST WILL ENTER PARADISE, SO WHY SHOULD THE MUSLIMS STRIVE?

Praise be to Allah What is indicated by the texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah, and the salaf (early generations) of this ummah are unanimously agreed upon it, is that no one in whose heart is an atom’s weight of faith will abide in Hell forever. Even if he enters Hell because of his sin, he will remain there for as long as Allah wills, then he will be brought forth therefrom to Paradise. Al-Bukhaari (44) and Muslim (193) narrated from Anas that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever says Laa ilaaha ill-Allah and has in his heart goodness the weight of a grain of barley will be brought out of Hell, then whoever says Laa ilaaha ill-Allah and has in his heart goodness the weight of a grain of wheat will be brought out of Hell, then whoever says Laa ilaaha ill-Allah and has in his heart goodness the weight of an atom (or a small ant) will be brought out of Hell.” Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Whoever dies affirming the o

WILL A WOMAN BE REWARDED FOR HER WORK EVEN IF SHE DOES NOT INTEND TO SEEK REWARD?

Praise be to Allaah. A woman’s work in the home is important work in which she helps to spread love and mercy in her home, and she plays a major role in raising her children and helps her husband in his work, da’wah and pursuit of knowledge. In this regard, this work is like all other kinds of work: a woman will not be rewarded for it unless her intention in doing it is sincerely for the sake of Allaah alone. There follow some texts which support this view, as well as some of the comments of the scholars. 1 – al-Bukhaari (may Allaah have mercy on him) included in Kitaab al-Eemaan (the Book of Faith) a chapter in which he listed shar’i duties, which included seeking reward for doing them. Al-Bukhaari (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Chapter: what was narrated about actions being but by intentions, and every person will have but that which he intended. This includes faith, wudoo’, prayer, zakaah, Hajj, fasting and other rulings. Allaah says (interpretatio

RULING ON PUTTING FLOWERS AND PLANTS IN THE BATHROOM

Praise be to Allaah. It is not wrong to put flowers, plants ar tree seedlings in bathroom as long as there is no extravagance or waste involved in that. If such is the case then it is blameworthy. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And let not your hand be tied (like a miser) to your neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach (like a spendthrift), so that you become blameworthy and in severe poverty” [al-Isra’ 17:29]. This is a prohibition on both miserliness and extravagance. And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “and waste not by extravagance. Verily, He likes not Al‑Musrifoon (those who waste by extravagance)” [al-An’aam 6:141] “And give to the kinsman his due and to the Miskeen (poor) and to the wayfarer. But spend not wastefully (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift. 27. Verily, the spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayaateen (devils), and the Shaytaan (Devil‑Satan) is ever ungrateful to his Lord” [al-Isr

WHAT DOES THE TREE GROWING ON THE GRAVE MEAN?

Many people are of the opinion that if a tree grows on the grave then the occupant of the grave was of such and such characteristic and was the good human being. They believe that the growing of a tree is the indication of the good end and that the occupant was a good man. However good a person may be or however bad a person may have been, we cannot know what he or she is going through in the grave. The growing of a tree over the grave does not mean anything. There is not basis for this in authentic sources. It is not right to say so that if a tree grows on the grave then a person was righteous because it is not the sign of that. It is simply a false notion. Trees can grow on a good persons grave and an evil persons grave too. We have seen trees growing on the graves of kuffar. Does that mean they were righteous? They too may have been good but not on faith. Believing in such things is not good as these are just lies. We should not be deceived by the claims of the myt

WHY IS TAKING PICTURES OF PLANTS PERMISSIBLE AND NOT OF HUMANS?

Praise be to Allaah and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allaah. Majority of the scholars are of opinion that it is permissible to make picture in which there are no animate beings or anything that has a soul such as a tree, building etc. To prove this point there are several evidences. The report narrated by al-Bukhaari (5963) and Muslim (2110) from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say, ‘Whoever makes an image in this world will be told to breathe life into it in the Day of Resurrection, and he will not be able to do so.’” The prohibition mentioned in this hadeeth has to do with animate objects. What confirms this interpretation is that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him), who was the narrator of this hadeeth, issued a fatwa permitting the drawing of trees and inanimate objects, as was narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari(2225) and Saheeh Muslim (2110) fr

IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO PLANT TREES ON GRAVES.

Praise be to Allaah. Some people believe that it is good to plant trees on the graves and that this is the sunnah of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). There is no basis for such a thing in Islam and it is not permissible to plant trees on graves no matter what tree is being planted. It is not permissible to sow any plant or tree on the grave be it a flowering plant, figs, wheat or anything else. This is because the Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) did not do that, and neither did the Rightly Guided Caliphs who succeeded him (may Allaah be pleased with them). With regard to what he did to the two graves when Allaah showed him the torment of their occupants, by planting palm stalks on them, this was something that was for those two graves only, because he did not do that with any other graves. The Muslims have no right to make up new acts of worship that are not prescribed by Allaah, because of the hadeeth mentioned and because Allaah says (interpretation of the m

RULING ON PLAYING WITH OUIJA BOARDS

All praise be to Allah Ouija board consist of a small board on which numbers and letters are written. At the top of the board are written the words Yes, No and Goodbye. The board is written in a language understandable to the local people. There is a disc or pointer in the middle of the board and the edges of which are held by a minimum of two people or players. The game begins by calling upon ouija and it is very clear in the minds of players that they are calling the spirit or a jinn according to the belief of the player. When the players ascertain that the spirit is around them, they begin asking the question or events that are unknown to them. The disc moves towards the numbers and letters in order to spell out the answer. If the question is about a specific date, the disc, with their fingers on it, moves towards the numbers in order to answer the question. Similarly, if the question is about a name or an event, then the disc moves towards the letters in order to spell out

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF SORCERERS, FORTUNETELLERS AND SOOTHSAYERS?

All praise be to Allaah. There are a number of things by which we can say if a person is a sorcerer or a charlatan and among them, the most important is that he claims to know the unseen. Even if the person does not say that openly but he will talk about matters of unseen which are clear lies and falsehood. He will claim to solve certain problems and claim that he knows exactly what the future holds. He will claim that certain rituals and sacrifices will make a person get whatever he wants. Remember it is all lies and falsehood. Whatever he claims to know, know that he does not know any of it. These are their deceitful practices to take away the peoples wealth unjustly and often they involve devils in their evildoings. Some of their lies can come true if Allah wills but most of it will be lies. Only the gullible falls prey to such evil. Their lies are onlooked because few of them did come true. They are also not righteous. They are never keen to worship. They may have their ow

COMMERCIAL INSURANCE AND THE RULINGS CONCERNING IT

All Praise be to Allaah. 1. There is no doubt that all kinds of commercial insurance are ribaa i.e. interest or usury. Insurance is the sale of money for money, of a greater or lesser amount, with a delay in one of the payments. This involves riba al-fadl i.e. interest based transaction and riba al-nas i.e. interest is to be paid if the delay is in payment of money. An insurance company takes peoples money and promise to pay more or less in case of an accident or whichever is the case for which the insurance is taken. All this is riba and riba is strictly forbidden in Quran. 2. All kinds of commercial insurance is based on Gambling which is haraam according to Quran and Hadith. All says in Glorious Quran: “O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), and gambling, and Al-Ansaab (stone altars for sacrifice to idols etc.) and Al-Azlaam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaytaan’s (Satan’s) handiwork. So avoid (s

IS THERE ANYTHING IN THE QURAN OR SUNNAH ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING?

Praise be to Allaah. The problem of global warming is regarded as one of the most serious environmental problems of our time, concerning which experts have held many conferences and published many articles about its dire consequences. These experts attribute this rise in temperature to the accumulation of gases in the atmosphere that is caused by factories, power stations and car emissions, which has led to a rise in air temperature and ocean temperature, which threatens to melt the ice-caps and cause flooding of land, which is expected to change the features of some countries completely and to change the climate of vast areas on earth. We could not find anything about this in the Qur’aan and Sunnah, apart from one hadeeth which some scholars who are specialized in sharee’ah and environmental sciences say has to do with this topic, and some of the most prominent specialists in the world agreed with them, which is that the Arabian Peninsula will again become meadows and rivers. T

DID ANY EARTHQUAKE TAKE PLACE AT THE TIME OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH)?

Praise be to Allah. There is no proof in the books of Sunnah and reports with an uninterrupted, saheeh isnaad, to suggest that there was any earthquake in Madeenah at the time of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The only reports that speak of that have da‘eef, mursal isnaads (i.e., they are weak). There follows further explanation: Firstly: It was narrated that Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Marwaan said: The ground shook at the time of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and he put his hand on it then he said: “Be still, for it is not yet time for that.” Then he turned to face his Companions and said: “Your Lord is asking you to seek forgiveness, so seek forgiveness.” Narrated by Ibn Abi’l-Dunya in al-‘Uqoobaat (no. 18). : ‘Abd-Allah told us, ‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ibraaheem told me, Abu Maryam informed us, al-‘Attaar ibn Khaalid al-Harami informed us, Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Marwaan told me. This isnaad is da‘eef (

How the Deceased Is Questioned in the Grave?

Praise be to Allah. Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The questioning of the deceased in the grave is undoubtedly real, and the person sits up in his grave, speaks and is questioned. If someone were to ask: the grave is narrow and confined, so how can he sit up? The answer is: Firstly: With regard to matters of the unseen, the believer is required to accept them and believe, and not ask how or why, because no one asks about how or why except the one who has doubts. But the one who believes and whose heart is content with what Allah and His Messenger say, will accept it and say, Allah knows best about how that happens. Secondly: The connection of the soul to the body in death is different from its connection in life. The connection between body and soul may vary in ways that man cannot understand, and the body’s connection to the body after death cannot be compared to the connection in life. When a person dreams, he sees himself com

How to Memorize the Noble Quran in Easy Way

Praise be to Allah. The way to memorize it is to persist in memorizing it. There are two ways in which people can memorize it: 1 – Memorizing it aayah by aayah, or two aayahs by two aayahs, or three by three, depending on how long or short the aayahs are. 2 – Memorizing it page by page. People vary; some of them prefer to memorize it page by page, repeating it until they have memorized it. Others prefer to memorize one aayah at a time, going over it until they have memorized it, then memorizing the next aayah, until they have memorized it all. Whether you use the first method or the second, you should not move on until you are sure of what you have learned, lest you build on a wrong foundation. You should review what you have memorized every day, especially in the morning. If you know that you have learned it properly, then you can move on. (Ya Allah, make it easy for us to remember and understand the Quran)

IS IT PERMITTED TO WEAR FALSE EYELASHES?

Praise be to Allah. It is haraam for a woman to wear false eyelashes because they come under the heading of hair extensions, for which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed those who do that. Al-Bukhaari and Muslim (2122) narrated that Asma’ bint Abi Bakr said: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have a daughter who is newly married, and she had the measles and her hair fell out. Can I give her hair extensions?” He said: “Allah has cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.” Al-Bukhaari (5205) and Muslim (2123) narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that a girl from among the Ansaar got married and she became sick and her hair fell out. They wanted to give her hair extensions, so they asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about that, and he cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.
